SEEDS Howard County

The Special Education Equal Development Society (SEEDS) of Howard County is committed to supporting over 50 families with special needs children, focusing on their growth and development. Our journey is built on compassion and innovation, ensuring every child’s story is valued and uplifted. Through weekly meets and events designed to stimulate and engage children with special needs, CAPA SEEDS encourages the growth and bonding of children who may lack such.

Our Projects and Programs

Accessible Weekly Events

In order to provide regular support for local children with disabilities in Howard County, we host a weekly meeting every Friday from 7-9 PM at Veterans Elementary School. In these meetings, children are paired 1-on-1 with a trained youth volunteer to ensure each child has access to tailored activities they will enjoy and benefit from individually.

Howard County SEEDS has helped children of diverse abilities improve cognitively and physically, fostering a wide range of skillsets and hobbies.

We collaborate with other community organizations to host celebrations, storytelling sessions, and other community events. Check out some of our recent events below! They include storytelling sessions with Readability and the National Children’s Museum, a Halloween party, rocket-making with CAPA TechGirls, and more!

We are currently working on a short documentary project spearheaded by our Montgomery County chapter, funded partially by the United Chinese Americans (ucausa.org) and partially by the MD Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), to highlight the contributions Chinese-American volunteer organizations are providing nationwide in enriching the daily lives of students with disabilities and their families.

We are working in collaboration with Maryland’s Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) to create a multilingual mobile app that introduces DDA services in both English and Chinese.
